We’re proud to share a significant milestone in the ableSling Lite+ rollout – our first two aviation-specific moving and handling training sessions have now been delivered at Manchester Airport and Cornwall Airport Newquay.
This training is part of our partnership with Emergency Evacuation Equipment and Training (3ET). It has been developed in direct response to the postural support and transfer equipment gaps identified in our 2024 report, Driving Mobility, as well as feedback from customers and assistance providers. The goal is straightforward: to provide safer and more dignified transfers for passengers with reduced mobility.
Real training, in real settings
At both airports, staff took part in a 1-day CPD-accredited session covering manual handling techniques, assisted seated transfers, and the correct use of the ableSling Lite+, our latest innovation.
At Cornwall Airport, we were able to run the session inside an actual aircraft cabin, allowing teams to practise using the sling in a real-world setting. The feedback has been fantastic – practical, eye-opening, and confidence-building for the staff involved.
“Enjoyed the aircraft visit — to be able to use the sling in its correct environment. Relaxed atmosphere, which I find makes learning and retention of learning much easier.”
“The course today has been really interesting, engaging and informative… I’ve taken a lot of new information away from the course and would definitely recommend it to anyone wishing to learn.”
“The sling is going to be an asset to our job… We realised we had covered all our fears. 100% enjoyed.”
Why this matters
Many passengers with reduced mobility face unsafe or undignified transfers when travelling. Too often, airport teams lack the right equipment or relevant training to support passengers who need postural support or cannot use hoists.
By combining the Lite+ sling with proper, scenario-specific training, we’re helping change that, one airport at a time.
“Lots of experience shared… Really valuable day — hopefully see Graham (and Josh) again soon.”
“New AbleMove sling outlook – impressive equipment. Great training!!”
What’s next?
We’ll be delivering additional training sessions over the coming weeks and months, with the aim of supporting airport service providers across the UK and beyond.

A big thanks to the teams at Manchester Airport and Cornwall Airport, and Graham Watson at 3ET for making this first phase such a success.
“The commitment from PRM staff has been brilliant. They’re focused on delivering more dignified, effective transfers that reduce risk for both passengers and staff. This training built on their existing skills, introduced new techniques, and gave them the confidence to apply the sling safely. Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive – especially on how the sling supports skin integrity, frailty, and passenger dignity. A relaxed, practical learning environment really made it stick.”
